Hi Ho

I got an unexpected call from a client who needed some website changes, so mornings -- this one, at least -- are less a jumble of unorganized thoughts to toss into a blog and more a list of things that I need to remember to do. Change this link, delete that one, build a new graphic here, change an old one there. I like this kind of stuff, oddly enough, even though it's vastly different from the things I most like to do. (That would be things that are purely creative, like composing or writing fiction.)

Anyway, a buck's a buck, and the few that this job will bring in might help take the sting out of the interview that never happened. And when it's over I can put my New! Improved! resume up on Dice and await yet another flurry of calls from headhunters that won't go anywhere. And I can get back to that old guy who's about to die and find out what really happened in his life to get him to make the claims he does.

And those people in the grocery store who just ran into their doppelgängers (some day I'll learn how to type an umlaut so I don't have to cruise the Web and steal one!) and the guy who is determined to kill himself and all those nice people in Calamity Falls.

And maybe then I can finish painting the house.

And plumbing the solar heating panels in the back.

And painting the whatchamacallit, the thing that most assuredly is not a pergola.

And finishing the molding, and the kitchen floor, and -- this only a guess -- cooking Thanksgiving dinner.

All of which means I just don't have the time to finish this blog entry.
